Not high end but solid place to stay close to ocean. .

Maybe my standards are too high for a 2 star property, but this did not reach to that bar. The room I was given was just sub par. I was awoken all night long with excess noisy from the road, the hallway, the fellow guest, etc. The room smelled and felt musky. The lighting in the room was horrible. The layout of the campus was hard as the Sands is apart of the Cavalier, but like the ugly step child with weird walk ways, and unknown ways to get into facilities. Needless to say, I wish I splurged and got a room at atleast a 3start hotel. Less learned.

I’ve been here with a group, family & now a solo trip. I love this place for all the fun, cozy, warmth & the beautiful views & beaches. The nightly sunsets seated by provided lit fire-pits are especially memorable. It’s here where you meet other travelers over making s’amores. Cambria is an arty & friendly town, the 1870 cemetery is even a place to visit. Hearst Castle rushes the tours more than the past years but worth going to at least once in your life. Combine two to get the most out of a visit.

We have been multiple times in the last few years and are always happy with our choice. Even though we had otters every day from the beach in front, the staff was the best part. We had car issues the morning we left and a staff member on their way out helped jump our car so we could get home. I will always stay here and will never recommend this place enough.
