24.07.17I booked this hotel for 1 night with my young daughter. The Agoda website asks you to confirm your arrival time so that the hotel can be ready. I noted our arrival time of 9.45pm.
Firstly, there is no staff at this hotel, but I wasn't made aware prior to arrival. On arrival, there was no reception desk or any way to know my room. Another guest who was outside smoking informed me that I should have received a text giving me my room number, access code to enter the hotel and to enter my room, but I never received it. I tried calling the hotel number but couldn't get through. We were standing outside in the cold, my daughter extremely tired, so we went back and sat in the car. I eventually got through to someone on the Oyo main helpline, who was not helpful... she kept telling me that I should have received the text, which I stated repeatedly that I didnt... eventually she gave me the details needed. I explained that I also had a separate booking for the next night (we originally booked for one night then had to add an extra night, but oyo wouldn't allow us to simply extend, instead I had to make a separate booking). She refused to give me the details for the second night, claiming that I will receive a text the next day for this booking, but couldn't give me an answer when I asked how she can guarantee that, given I never received one for this night... I got tired of repeating myself, so ended the call and took my daughter back to the hotel.
The hallways were very dirty and clearly hadn't been vacuumed in a long while.
We found our room, and this was a nightmare... bed hadn't been made, the sheets duvet and covers were all in a pile on the bed ( not sure if they were clean, fresh sheets or what was taken off the bed as they were wrinkled and not neatly folded). The rubbish from previous guests was in a bag in the corner (and I could see cat food bags in it), there was spilled fries in the corner of the room, dirty cutlery and cups in the sink, the toilet seat was filthy, bathtub very filthy with hair everywhere, again wrinkled towels in the bathroom that definitely weren't clean)... there was no toilet roll, so I stood my daughter we would have to go back out to the shops to buy some... luckily on our way out, we saw a supply closet that had toilet roll.
I wanted to leave, but at this point my daughter was exhausted so I had no choice but to make the bed and try to get her a good night's rest. The room was on the ground floor and I didn't feel safe in the neighbourhood so had to leave the windows closed, which was very hot and uncomfortable... at around 4am, I opened the window to get some air in, but even at this time there was so much noise from people out in the streets that I had to shut it again. The next morning, we got up got dressed and left by 8am (had originally planned to rest till check out time).
I raise a complaint with Agoda but they were less than useless and despite photo evidence provided of everything I have noted above, they just left it to Oyo, and didn't care that I had experienced this with a hotel on their platform.
PS, I never received the text for the hotel room details for the second night either!
24.06.05I don't know what to say no reception to check in. Had to phone about 5 times to get the code to the door to get into the building and room. Corridoor and stairs must of been cleaned about 6 months ago. Grass and dirt all up the stairs really dirty.
Upon entry window wide open room was full of flies. Very busy road so you could taste the polution from the road. Used nearly a can of deodrant to get the stale taste in the air away and to kill those flies.
Sheets on the bed and linen dirty. Not enough pillows bath and bathroom rusted and unclean. Biggest issue immediatly spoted after the flies.
The middle of the bed was sunken sat on it. Was like i being swallowed by quick sand. Lifted the mattress bed was broken. Immediatly called but your dealing with customer service in another country.
Took my number said they will call me back to get me a better room. That never happened. No place to sit no chair or anything. So layed on the floor waiting to be called.
After a few hours and i can't pass the time as internet is terrible. The Tv doesn't work so waste of time on that. Clearly not been set up properly. So decided to just go and take my bags.
After 20 plus emails the and a promise of refund. I have now had to get my bank involved to recover the money. Customer service complete waste of time. Repeating yourself over again getting passed on all the time.
Not having a hotel reception or any staff at the premises. Hurts this place the place. Lively location if was ran properly and facilties were up to standard would be a good business.
I stayed at Pasha which is in Camberwell not far from this location on my last stay. Should of gone back there thought i would try something new big mistake.
Best thing i can say and has nothing to do with hotel. There is a Francesco Pizza place does all 12 inch pizza £5. I am not joking i have eaten 1000s of pizzas all over and in different countries. That was the best Pizza i eaten in my life.
There attached the building on the corner with hotel above. Check them out i hope this review is helpful to other people travelling through the area.
24.06.02I stayed here as I needed to be within walking distance from King’s College Hospital and the hotel is within a short walk. I had a standard room. The hotel advertises amongst other things as having an electric kettle and daily housekeeping - no electric kettle and my room was not touched - I stayed 2 nights.
My room had a large TV, but no channels worked and although I tried to tune it, no channels were found. On evening one I emailed the hotel to ask for the TV to be tuned and a kettle and the following morning received a polite email saying the problems would be looked into - nothing changed.
The floor tiles in the bathroom are cracked so you need to be careful when walking on them as they move and the broken edges rise up and are sharp.
My bed was made without care, so I remade it before I went to bed.
The noise from other guests is so loud as it is not soundproof and the main door is often slammed.
On a positive, everything was very clean and the shower has brilliant pressure.
24.05.28I've stayed here three times now,
It's very handy for the local kings hospital. It's disappointing there's no reception as pictured in the description and no staff ever greet you. But actually the room and bathroom are fine, clean towels are provided and the bed is comfy.
On this occasion I was at the front and although noisy with the traffic outside, it was actually quite nice to have the view, there's plenty of huge trees in the vicinity and it can be interesting to do some people watching from this high up location on the third floor !
There was a huge smart TV, but although it was connected to the internet I couldn't get any streaming services to work and it is not connected to an aerial or dish, so theres no Freeview. It's good exercise getting up to the third floor, I quite liked being up there.
The pizza place directly next door does an awesome pizza for just £5 and there are a couple of decent pubs nearby. Also the Peckhamplex cinema is 20 minutes walk away and that's good value.
The carpets in the hallway could do with a hoover and there's some paintwork that could do with touching up, but overall a pleasant stay.
24.04.22No reception so had to find a number that worked so we could access the room as we didn’t receive an automatic email with codes. Small room comfy bed but only 1 pillow each. Tv didn’t work no WiFi either. Windows are very old and you can hear everything from the street. Ear plugs were needed. Soap and shower gel provided.
