25.12.10 We chose HMC Hotel because of its great location: close to Da Lat city center, Xuan Huong Lake, and many other good restaurants nearby. The facilities were not new, but clean and decent. Plus, the room rate was great!! The receptionist upgraded us to a room with a window; we really appreciated it. However, the window was high. We could not look out from it without standing on a chair nearby. At night, if you are a light sleeper and stay in the lower floors, you might be bothered by the live music and singing from the bars and café shops across from the hotel.
The staff members were friendly and helpful EXCEPT for one security who was not friendly and happy whenever we saw him, but that was OK. What was not acceptable was a younger male receptionist working on night shifts. On the night of December 6, this male receptionist was glueing to his cell phone and didn't even bother to say hello when we returned and asked him for our room key. He threw the key on the counter in front of him, but it was about 2-3 feet from where we stood. Then, he took the key and slid it on the surface of the counter toward us without even acknowledging or looking at us. His actions were as if we bothered and interrupted him watching his favorite program. We did not want to get him in trouble, but we believe he needs to be retrained in the basic elements of good customer service.
