We drove here in a van, which we managed to park easily. The staff were amazingly helpful, friendly, and just generally lovely. The onsens were beautiful, as were the other facilities. There was a beautiful dinner prepared, however we were all vegetarian or vegan so didn't get to enjoy it to the fullest. Definitely know food is included, so let them know if you have food restrictions! They were accommodating with that too, even though it's very much not normal Japanese cuisine. Worth every cent!

They couldn't find my reservation for quite a long time. It wasn't a good experience. The building is beautiful and peaceful. It has a good audio speaker.

Surprised to see high end audio equipment in our room, common rooms. Would be nice to be able to hook up my phone. All you could play was records and cds. Tidal would sound fantastic on these systems. The private onsen room could use a refresh. I’d stick with the separate men’s and women’s or just use the nice wooden tub in your room . Note that they serve horse meat sashimi. Dinner is served in a common room shared with other guests. Also it’s an old building, so parts of it were very cold. I enjoyed the stay, but think I’d try another ryokan next time.
