26.04.30We enjoyed our stay at Sparky's. Staff was wonderfully helpful. The room and beds were very comfortable. We had our own happy hour on the deck. We rented electric bikes from them (which made getting around Naoshima easy and fun!) and did a load of laundry there. They recommended Yunnari for dinner, which was great fun, casual and delicious.
Rooms are compact, but designed to meet all a traveler's needs. We highly recommend Sparky's.
26.04.23Staff were very helpful and informative
Room was cosy and comfortable
Location near to port and 7-11
Bicycle for hire
Only drawback was early check-out time (10am)
26.03.28Booked this place because of the high ratings. But was a little disappointed. Yes the rooms are comfortable and clean. And they have a communal kitchen with free toast , amenities, and coffee/tea/soup. But the hospitality is lacking. Every interaction is cold , from check in to check out. No smiles, no warmth. Everything is a cost. Bicycles rental, luggage storage. I know it's an island and everything is expensive but the price is steep considering the extras you have to pay. Lastly the thing that left a really bitter taste for me is the checkout. Official check out is 10am, they were already knocking on my door at 950am to ask me to get out as they want to start cleaning the room! How rude!!
Manage your expectations when booking. Island accommodation are limited and expensive, so they do have the upper hand. Please also book dinner restaurants in advance as it's limited. Cafes and restaurants around the island have random opening hours and days.
Lastly, to the owner/management of Sparkey's House., you're in hospitality. Show some love.
25.12.05It’s at Miyanoura port area where there’s all the food options and ferry back to Uno. The “hotel” is well equipped with everything you need, even a shared pantry where there’s toast and spread. The rooms are comfortable too.
25.12.02An easy 500 metre walk from the ferry, this ‘hostel’ is nicely geared towards foreign tourists. Comfortable room with a good bed, mattress and pillow. Communal
Kitchen with a handy Seven Eleven just up the road. Bikes available to hire and staff speak English. I’d happily stay here again.
