25.05.01This was an amazing stay that we highly recommend! Great location at the end of the main town street, about 15 mins walk from the main train station (the town is very small). It is very close to all the best onsens in the small town that you will be experiencing (ask reception for recommendations for the best omens to go to). The room was spacious and the service from all the staff members and hotel owners were diamond class. They can even do your laundry - wash, dry and fold! For a total of 1200 yen for the full basket that we both filled up. The cafe at the main floor has fantastic food, a must try. The hotel staff is a family that speaks great English, are very accommodating and pleasant! The private onsen in the building was a great way to do a final clean after visiting all the onsens in town and a great way to relax in solitude since the town onsens are shared NUDE spaces. They will also hold your luggage after checkout so you can explore the town more before your train leaves and then the owner can even help with forwarding your luggage to your next hotel destination so that way you don’t have to carry it around - definitely recommend doing this so you don’t have to haul your suitcases around (just pack a small bag with a day or so of clothes and toiletries to hold you over). Another plus was that they accepted credit card for all necessary things that we needed. Definitely a MUST stay in the beautiful town of Kinosaki Onsen!
Tip: go to the town tourism center and rent a bike for the day that costs about $30 USD so that you can bike around to the other parts of town like the beach and the quarry.
25.03.26From check in process until check out, it was truly flawless experience. Yamada-san and his mother made us feel comfortable. Everything was prepared for us well. From the information around the onsen town, the room, food accomodation (tried 2 of the recommemdations) and they were both excellent.
Would definitely stay here again when I come back to Kinosaki Onsen
25.02.22This is the best hotel I have stayed during my trip to Japan, and tbh, in all my travels. It is run by a mother and her son. They are the most welcoming hosts ever. Everything is very clean and cozy. They provide you with yukata, obi, basket to put your things, and the pass for all the onsens. I had a bit a struggle getting on the yukata, and his mom helped me get it on. Also, they also helped me take pictures and gave me a framed photo in the yukata. They are amazing. There is a cute coffee shop too. Furthermore, they personally dropped me off at the JR station that next day. One of my most memorable experiences in all of Japan, and I would definitely recommend staying here and also visiting kinosaki onsen.
24.12.10It is a very artistic space, I am delighted as I felt all my 5 senses are indulged in this ryokan. Sight - owner’s uncle is a painter, there is a mini gallery at the annex cafe. The artistic drawing on our room wall is amazing. Smell - there is a very calming and tasteful incense smell in the common areas of ryokan. Taste - love the hot chocolate at the annex cafe, breakfast spread is yummy as well. Touch - Very satisfied with the high quality Yukata and bedding. Hearing - super quiet and restful, absolute peace. Above all, I am very impressed by the sincere hospitality of owner and staff. It is definitely my pleasure to recommend Utsuroi Tsuchiya Annex
24.10.01Very cute hotel and the owner and his mum are great! they made me feel very welcome and explained how everything works thoroughly.
My only con was the noise from outside, I think some construction work is going on nearby so that woke me up and the pillow was quite hard, aside from that, I completely recommend. The town is cute and friendly the of-course the Onsens are great.
Something to note: most shops and restaurants close at 4 till about 6, I got here after 3 and starving and had to wonder around for a while before I found a cafe near the train station for some food, which luckily was really good :-)
