24.03.29We absolutely loved our experience at RyokanMotoyu Kansuiro. We were traveling with our kids, age 7 and 10. When we arrived at Hakone-Yumoto station, the lines for the taxi and buses were quite long so we walked to the ryokan; it was only a 15 minute walk. It’s right next to the river and is gorgeous inside and out. We were charmed by our lovely tatami room with views of the river and waterfall. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious and our room attendant was so helpful and sweet. They customized our meals to account for our pescatarian and vegetarian diets and it was the best Japanese food I have ever had. Loved the onsen bathtub in our bathroom and their public open air bath as well. The futons were very comfortable and we slept so well. The location is great, right along the bus routes up to Hakone open air museum and Yunessen resort. I would highly recommend this ryokan! It was the highlight of our trip to Japan so far!
23.11.30Must do in Japan! It was the highlight of the trip. My boyfriend and I and another couple stayed here and it was an amazing experience! Staff is very friendly, accommodating and kind. We were able to drop off our bags earlier in the day to go sightsee. You need to be back by 5 or so when checking in for a tour of facility and amenities as well as getting fitted into the Japanese attire provided. Dinner was amazing and perfect for people interested in trying new foods. Service was outstanding and our staff member was lovely. We indulged into two bottles of sake before going to the onsens at night. We used the indoor private onsen as a group, the hot stone sauna and later in the evening we used the outdoor onsen when it became private at 10pm. It is first come, first serve. Our room had a river view and small onsen in the bathroom. We were able to access the outdoor onsen from our bedroom. The facilities were clean and the ryokan established in 1614 kept the same authentic charm. During dinner a staff member prepared our room with the traditional japanese futons which were very comfortable! Breakfast was equally as amazing. It was nice to walk around premises along the river and explore the ryokan as it was a bit of a maze. Our luggage was brought to our rooms and then brought to the lobby in the morning! Staying here is a must do if visiting Japan or Hakone. Hakone is additionally just as amazing and beautiful.
