I was not a Japanese traveler and didn't speak the language; however, I was warmly welcomed by the hotel's owner and staff. I'm in love with people who work there. I ordered dinner, and it was served with care and consideration. I wanted to stay longer, certainly. I will certainly plan to come back to stay there.

The building was a bit old but had character. The rooms were spacious and clean. It was a bit warm when we got there and the room had no AC but they gladly brought us a fan that we could use during our stay. We enjoyed the private outdoor onsen and the public one. The breakfast was also great, traditional and generous in servings. The hostess was so kind and bubbly. We had no plans about dinner and was just gonna wing it, but she gave us several suggestions which we were able to use come dinner time. She’s the reason I enjoyed our stay here a lot. And their pet rabbit and owl! I guess a con here is that the walk to Ikaho Stone Steps is quite challenging because it’s a steep uphill. Nevertheless we still enjoyed our stay!
