26.05.02I had a very stressful experience here and I would not recommend it.
I arrived around 11 pm after traveling all day. There was no one at reception, so I had to wait a few minutes (which is fine), but when he arrived he didn’t even greet me, he just said “reservation number” which felt quite rude.
Then he started insisting that I show him my visa. I explained multiple times that with an Italian passport you don’t need a visa to enter the country, but he kept insisting and even told me that they would refuse my stay if I didn’t show a visa. He barely speaks English, so someone else (I think he was a guest) had to step in and help as an interpreter. The situation went on long enough that I ended up crying because they were basically leaving me on the street as a solo female traveler at 11 pm. Only AFTER he saw me crying, he suddenly asked me for the entry STAMP in my passport. I showed it immediately and he said “this is what I was asking for,” even though he had clearly been asking for a VISA the whole time, which is NOT THE SAME THING. This entire situation was caused by poor communication and was handled very badly.
Once they finally let me go up to the room, he just handed me the key and told me to go upstairs. He didn’t show me any facilities or even where my bed was in a room with many beds (maybe 40 to 50), so I had to find it myself in the middle of the night. The situation there was very uncomfortable: overcrowded, and a very strong unpleasant smell. There was even a pizza box and other trash on the floor. The mattress was extremely hard.
The bathrooms are not clean at all, even the toilet bowls were disgusting (no need to explain), they smelled bad, and there was no toilet paper.
The staff member that was at the reception in the morning was nice and polite tho.
Overall, between the check-in situation, the way I was treated, and the hygiene conditions, this was a very negative experience.
26.04.29Nice hostel/hotel. They provided many little hygiene items, beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, and there were things to do in the area (more local than across the river)
